Your Dreams May Be Telling You Something
Author: Kimberly S. Phillips
Your dreams can become a reality. This is true!
Yes, this is possible by learning to tap into your inner power and strength.
While dreaming, you release your doubt about your world of possibilities.
Without doubts there are no limitations. Personally, I believe that your dreams
do not reflect an image of you but it is really you in true spirit. Dreams are
real and are guides to your own spiritual awareness.

Your Diet Didn't Work--Again
Author: Dr. Noelle Nelson
You're rooting through your closet for that
perfect thing to wear. Maybe this, maybe that - no, not THAT! Your eye lights on
a brand new pair of jeans - that you'd completely forgotten about. Perfect! Then
you remember why they were bought and then forgotten. You purchased them when
you were on your last diet as an incentive, a motivation. Which didn't work.
Which of course means that they won't fit now.

Your Big Yellow Bus

The big yellow school bus is coming down my road

see the bus, I feel sorry for those poor suckers. And I express my gratitude
that I'm no longer going back to school this time of year.

Your Big Life Plan
Author: Jon Gordon, The Energy Addict
It’s big but you can’t see it. So great that if
you could see it you wouldn’t believe it. It’s your destiny and it’s calling
you. If you don’t believe me just remember Albert Einstein. He could not speak
until he was four years old. He did not read until he was 7. His parents thought
he was retarded. We know they were wrong. Or how about Beethoven. His music
teacher said, "As a composer he is hopeless." Wrong again. And let’s not forget
Muhammad Ali. His teacher once told him, “you ain’t never going to be nothing.
He showed her and the world that he was the greatest after all. We all know
Helen Keller’s story and we certainly all know our own story. Every day we face
challenges, fears, obstacles, and negativity that hits us with left jabs and
right hooks. We get so caught up in the details of bills, job pressures, raising
kids, fixing the house, car payments, trying to make a living and a hundred
other to-dos, that we can’t even see over the piles of paper on our desk never
mind-our future success. But when t

You Are Not A Failure!
Author: Calvin J. Moss
What is failure? Failure is a lack of success, an
unsuccessful person or thing. In other words, failure is quitting before
receiving the promise. As children of God, we must understand that with God all
things are possible. The victory is already won. We triumph in all things in
Christ Jesus! There are no reasons for failures just excuses. The Bible says in
Proverbs 24:10 “If thou faint in the day of adversity thy strength is small”.
God the father created us with abilities to succeed. One of them is the blood of
Jesus and the other is the Holy Ghost. It is our responsibility to operate with
in them. Jesus said: “the Kingdom of God is within you”.

Yes, You Can Say No
Author: Coach Rachelle Disbennett-Lee, MS, PCC, CTC
It is perfectly OK to say, "No." You have
permission. Many people do not like to disappoint others by saying, "No." They
will tend to acquiesce even when overloaded. Sometimes those with the need to
please will agree to do something when it is not in their best interest just to
be accommodating. Saying yes when we want or need to say no is a way to put
others first. Indeed we don't want to hurt others' feelings, however we hurt our
own when we overload ourselves and say yes to task that we don't want to or
don't have time to do.

Words Are Not Neutral. Are We the Victims?
Author: Odete Martins Bigote
The English novelist, Rudyard Kipling, once said
that "Words are, of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind." Indeed,
words can make you cry, can make you laugh, and can kill you. Why? Because of
the "images" that they leave in our minds. Although most of us may not realize
what is happening, such images have consequences sooner or later. Words may
change from time to time, from culture to culture, from continent to continent,
but something stays in our minds: the effect. Can we become the victims?

Within You Lies All You Need
Author: Ubong Essien
Within is the person we really are. Within lies
our very existence. And only from within can we make it happen. This is where
our very all subsists. Within you is the ability, the “what it takes” to make it
all happen for you, just the way you want it. WITHIN! WITHIN!! WITHIN!!! Oh what
a place! This is the only place that will ever always and fully be yours. The
only domain where you are king indeed. Not even the future or the past holds a
stake high enough to be compared to that within you. The renowned jurist, Oliver
Wendell Homes couldn’t have said it better when he remarked, “What lies ahead of
us and what lies behind us are nothing compared to what LIES WITHIN US”. The
past haven gone and the future waiting beyond, you are left with but one great
option - That which is within you. Your very bird in hand. I want you to realize
that your best bet is in all that you are potentially endowed with within,
though it may not appear, as it ought to be at present.

Wiggle Room
Author: Deborah Martin
I was paddling a new river a couple of weekends
ago and came up behind a beaver. He didn't know I was there. I spoke up, trying
to give him fair warning, but by the time I saw him, I was on top of the poor
fellow. We were both pretty surprised. As we went down river together at about
the same speed, I could hear and feel, th-thump, th-thump, th-thump, on the
bottom of my canoe as he tried to maneuver his way out of the dilemma of only 8
inches of water between the bottom of my canoe and the bottom of the river.
After a long 45 seconds, we finally reached deeper water. My paddling partner
said, “That poor guy just ain’t got no wiggle room.”

Money Magazine said that “A coach may be the

coaching. It is one of the fastest growing careers, with an estimated 100,000

there are many people calling themselves “coaches”---unfortunately not all of
whom are fully qualified. You should know that there is no required professional
certification process, although it is coming in the near future.

What is Hypnosis
Author: Carol Denicker
Hypnosis is a natural, psychological state
experienced as trance. Hypnosis may be induced through the interaction of one
individual speaking to another, or to an entire group as in (group hypnosis). We
can also learn to self-induce trance as in (self-hypnosis). A trance is a
natural state occurring whenever attention is narrowly focused and relatively
free of distractions. Your attention may be focused either internally (on
daydreaming or self-talk, meditation, etc.) or externally (on a task, reading, a
movie, engaged in an art form, intently listening to a speaker, etc.). Attention
is narrowly focused so that other environmental stimuli are ignored or blocked
out of conscious awareness for a period of time.

What is Healthy Support?

For many giving another human being the support
they require is not an easy thing. It means letting down our own judgment and
wishes for that person - and REALLY supporting and encouraging them -- even if
giving that support means that they move 3000 miles away. It's also about inner
support and learning how to support ourselves. It's about watching the messages
of the universe for their support and about not giving up on you! And oh... it's
about walking over and under and through lots of mountains and pastures too.

Author: Sheraun Britton-Parris
So many of us want success, but how many of us

superficial “bling and glam” definition like VH1 defines it on “The Fabulous
Life of ……” The expensive cars, the safe full of jewelry and the massive homes
on every continent are only fruits of success, not success itself. Rather,
Success is the realization and accomplishment of worthy goals. They are those
purpose driven milestones that we set in our lives based on our values, beliefs
and ambitions. You know them when you see them because they bring a sense of
fulfillment and peace of mind when actively pursued. On the flip side, however,
they increase our level of anxiety and frustration when we let fear and
complacency stop us from pursuing them. You should know that feelings of fear
are part of the process, but you need to acknowledge that fear and move through
it because I guarantee you that if you don’t take time to set and actively
pursue (purpose driven) goals, you will most certa

I awoke to the feeling of being shook and felt

One of the most emotionally crippling aspects of

Try to think of absolutely nothing, for
this is the secret of success.
Author: Ron G Holland
The formula you need for all the wealth, success
and achievement, and peace of mind, indeed for all the answers to all your
problems, and I mean all, is S.S.S. SILENCE, STILLNESS AND SOLITUDE. This is no
invention of my own, and research into psychology and studies of world leaders,
scientists, musicians, physicists, industrialists, inventors and other famous
people proves this great power has been used, unwittingly or intentionally,
since the beginning of time. All human success and achievement stems from this
one power. It was used by Mozart, Einstein, Carnegie, Shakespeare, Emerson and
Edison, to mention a few. This is the power used by the fakirs and mystics of
the East and the fire walkers of the Fiji Islands. It allows the fire walkers to
walk barefooted across red hot coals without feeling any pain. The secret lies
in meditation, in Silence, Stillness and Solitude.

THE TOP 10 WAYS to LIFT YOUR MOOD WHEN
YOU'RE FEELING DOWN in the DUMPS
Author: Dennis R. Tesdell
Everyone has periods in their life when they feel
*down in the dumps*, blue, or mildly depressed, *especially* at holiday times,
such as Christmas & Thanksgiving. Many people feel this way especially on New
Years Eve due to perhaps a combination of alcohol, the end of a year that was
not great for them, etc. These *down* feelings can be due to everything from
some personal problems to business hassles to various weather changes or
conditions. For those for whom these moods are short-lived and *not frequent*
the following have shown to help boost one's mood and general outlook.

Independent thinkers are growing in number. Though
still a tiny minority, everyday more and more people are throwing aside

can be valuable tools, independent thinkers know that knowledge can come from
others, but only from within can wisdom dawn.

As a Coach and Psychotherapist I have found that
the world seems to have lost its way in terms of values. Most individuals are
looking for more meaning in their lives, as are businesses looking to capture
the spirit of what they do. I found the movie “ What The Bleep Do We Know?”
refreshingly inspiring and in many ways descriptive of my view of the world.
Quantum theory and the profound effects it has on the way we view the world, our
world, and therefore the way we create it is an amazing way of saying, “hey you
are accountable and you got to where you are because you created it!”

THE SNEEZY-COUGHING-ACHY BLUES
Author: Dr. Noelle Nelson
It’s a bright sunny day. Well, it’s a sunny day.
It started out bright, but now as you sneeze, cough and ache your way
increasingly through the hours, the day is getting duller and duller. You make
it through your work and drag yourself home. “How ya feeling, Hon?” your devoted
Significant Other asks. “Awful,” you reply, “It started with just a couple of
sneezes and now I’m a total mess.” “Oh, it’s probably just allergies,” he
replies. You shoot him a look; “I’m sure getting a lot of sympathy from you. I
feel awful.” You cough a few times for emphasis. “Well you have a great
constitution. You’ll be well in no time,” he says. You dig in your heels: “No
it’s not. This is gonna get worse before it gets better, I can tell.” Why he
doesn’t catch on is a mystery to you.

When we awaken from dreams, we realize that they

a dream from which each of us will one day awaken to realize that this too was
an illusion of earthly consciousness.

The S.O.A.M. Model of Growth
Author: Jan Stephen Maizler,LCSW
Achieving transformation and growth requires three
critical steps: self-ownership, self-appraisal, and self-management (SOAM). The
SOAM model is a cogent, practical working model of personal transformation that
is dependent only on oneself. It is also that is easily taught to others. While
griefwork transformation applies to times when loss forms the vehicle of change,
the SOAM model of transformation can be utilized at any time in the life cycle.

“degree of success,” coping is just about the last thing I want for anyone. It's

The Avatar?Course
Author: Mary Evans
The Avatar course, was written down by Harry
Palmer, an educational psychologist, in 1986. He says it was created out of
‘perceived need' and that he wanted to give people tools to better handle the
difficulties of life. The tools and techniques delivered in the course, he says,
were IN consciousness and may have always been there, just waiting to be
discovered. If it weren’t for all the people who have meditated, read about and
explored consciousness, perhaps the tools would not have been discovered exactly
when they were ?birthed from a floatation tank in the stillness of his own
living room! Harry doesn't pretend to be the only person capable of discovering
something like Avatar but we can thank everyone.

It isn't what happens to someone else, it's what happens and how it happens to

experience and use it to enrich your life. Life isn't about somewhere else, some
other time or place or the what ifs. It's about now and how you make the most of
this moment in time or, waste it. It's absorbing all there is around you,
learning, growing, feeling all emotions. Not just the good ones. It's
acknowledging your choices might not have been the best ones and knowing nothing
or no one is stopping you from making new ones. No one other than yourself, that
is. So often I hear the words "Life is flying by. Where did the time go?"

I don't know about you, but at this time of year I

for the year. The quirks of nature notwithstanding, they would be reaping what
they had sown. The result of their work was visible, and commensurate to the
amount of effort and care they had put into it. They also had an ending. The
crop that had been planted was now being harvested. Then it would all begin
again.

Project the Energy to Succeed
Author: Jon Gordon, The Energy Addict
I have a white cat named Frankie that thinks he's
a dog. He walks around the block with me like a dog. He eats dog food. And when
I clap my hands and say, "come on boy" he comes running. Amazingly when dogs
come up to him he doesn't run away. And strangely enough dogs never chase him.
While I see them chase other cats in the neighborhood they never chase my
Frankie. I often study Frankie and his interactions with the neighborhood dogs.
When they first meet Frankie, they always look confused. While the dog looks
skittish and nervous, Frankie just sits their calmly looking at the dog saying
"Why are you looking at me like I'm a cat? I'm not a cat. I'M A DOG, NOW TURN
AROUND AND GO FIND A TREE." I believe the dogs are confused because they are
seeing a cat but since Frankie is projecting the energy that he's a dog, they
don't know what to make of him. After a few encounters with Frankie, the dogs
don't seem nervous anymore. Frankie has made them believers and they simply
treat him like a dog.

poK
Author: Kevin Roberts
In Beelzebub's Tales, Gurdjieff refers often to
the "crystallizations of the consequences of the properties of the organ
Kundabuffer" (poK). This special crystallization is not defined specifically,
but by-products of it are listed as "pride, vanity, self-love, egoism,
self-conceit, swagger, imagination, bragging, arrogance" and many more similar
terms. I have often heard Kundabuffer defined as an organ with special
properties that has since been removed, but I have not heard of anyone
investigating this ‘crystallization.?Since this crystallization is caused by our
surrounding conditions during our preparation for responsible existence, it is
in effect put into us mechanically; but it cannot be removed mechanically. I
submit that it cannot be removed unless we determine exactly what it is, since
for each of us the surrounding conditions were somewhat different.

Pay it Forward
Author: Laurie Linsley
Every one has heard of random acts of kindness,
but not everyone has heard of the concept “Pay It Forward”. It came from author
Catherine Ryan Hyde in her book “Pay It Forward” released in January 2000.
Warner Brothers made it into a movie with the same title and this concept has
become a real worldwide social movement.

Author: Chuck Bauer
Sitting on a Delta airlines jet waiting for
pushback from the gate, the senior flight attendant politely asked, "What can we
do for you?" I was silent for a moment as I thought about my reply as she
continued to speak, "Mr. Bauer, we checked your Delta file and you have about a
zillion miles, so it wouldn't do any good to offer you those. However, the
flight crew would really like to do something nice for you . . . maybe we could
all take you to dinner tonight -- on us?"

Positive Attitude

How many times have you heard someone say, “Hey,

concerned about. And did you know that there are actually a host of concrete
reasons why this is so?

Opportunity Knocks Every Day

You've heard people say that opportunity only
knocks once. I say it knocks a thousand times, or at least it can. The problem
is, we often don't listen, we don't see, or we don't want to work. The biggest
problem, though, is that opportunity really isn't opportunity, if you're not
ready for it.

One hour here, two hours there, even fifteen
minutes, it all adds up, and quickly too. Television is toxic to our self-

10% as a stimulant. With such a high percentage of negativity fueling the
majority of this country television must play into the fact that anti-
depressant consumption is doubling by the year. So, if you are wondering why you
have low self-esteem, think about your television habits.

Being Psychic is as Natural as Breathing
Author: M.L. Danielle Daoust
I used to avoid saying what I do for a living
because it can make people uncomfortable. They think I can see into their
lives, what they had for breakfast that morning and what they’ll be doing
tomorrow. I can, if I want to. But to look inside someone’s life without
invitation is trespassing and I prefer not to break these universal
principles. Besides, what value is there in filling my head with the
intimate details of others?lives? I’ve got enough to think about, wondering
what *I’m* going to be doing tomorrow...

popcorn, sighing as you can’t help but notice all the loving couples all around
you, cooing, holding hands. Heck, even the ones who are bickering look happy to
you! You pop a single piece of popcorn into your mouth, and sigh your way
through yet another movie where somebody else got the guy. . . not you. . .never

Author: Liz Sumner
A few years ago I was having dinner at a Hollywood
restaurant with several of my husband's childhood friends-- one of whom was a
movie producer who owned the restaurant, and another was some big deal in the
music industry. I gave meaning and importance to their glamorous titles. I
decided that they were better than me because they had money and celebrity. In
that rarefied air I felt oversized, underdressed, and at the same time puny and
invisible.

Mountain-Moving Momentum
Author: Fran Briggs
It can be challenging to think about going to the
next level. Especially when you're completely overwhelmed by the thought of
taking the next step. Are you catatonic? "Stuck on still"? Moving nowhere, fast?
Perfect! You are in excellent position to generate what I call, "mountain-moving
momentum." You see, mountain-moving momentum lets you start as you are. You may
already know that momentum keeps you in motion long enough to do what you desire
to do. Mountain-moving momentum is much more stronger than this. Mountain-moving
momentum empowers you by keeping you in motion long enough to do what no one -
including you - thought you could do. The fact is, it takes mountain-moving
momentum to achieve goals such as incredible fat-loss, stupendous financial gain
or presenting an ear-catching winning proposal. The more you have, regardless of
the size of the goal, the more quickly the goal is achieved.

Living Your Dream Guilt Free
Author: P.A. Lastick
It is funny how sometimes we, as women, can be so
supportive of our spouse’s and children’s dreams. Putting in the back burner our
own desires with the notion that perhaps when our children leave the house or
when our husbands reach their goals it will be time to devote all our energy
pursuing our own dreams. Feeling the guilt of not being available 24/7 for those
we love can be our worst enemy. And before we realize it there are a few gray
hairs on our heads and time is slowly escaping us. I have a supportive husband
who not only encourages me to follow my dreams, but who cheers me along the way.
Why then is it so hard for me to pursue my dreams without feeling like I am
abandoning my family in the process? Why do I feel like there are not enough
hours in the day to do all the things I want to do? I only have one child, a
seven year old daughter named Vivian. I don’t want anymore children, despite the
constant pleading from my in-laws, because if I feel pressed for time with one
that feeling will surely be d

Lifelong Learning
Author: Vincent Martin Treacy
How precious is life? Many of us don’t appreciate
our life until it is threatened. We are bombarded with advice about our physical
condition often at the expense of our mental state. The World Health
Organisation once defined ‘Health’ as a ‘complete state of physical and mental
well-being’. If we are to be truly healthy then I firmly believe we owe
ourselves a commitment to lifelong learning. To this end I often spend time
looking for books with content that challenges my accepted way of life. I spent
my youth and earlier days keeping myself fit. I spent hours practising sports
and pitting my strength against others who felt similar needs. I practised judo
and was fortunate enough to travel to other countries where I fought against
others from different nationalities. Nowadays my needs are different and I can
fulfil those needs with a jog or a long walk, stretching exercises and sensible
eating. However, those are my physical needs and I find I have continued my
quest to find answers to my self development in

What does your personal energy meter read? On a
scale of 1-10, with 10 representing “completely energized” and 1 indicating
“It’s a miracle you can get out of bed”, think about what your energy level is
right now? Now, think about what your meter reads most of the time? When I ask
these questions in my seminars I find that most people are between 4 and 7. I
can’t help but wonder why we aren’t all 10’s. Why are we all not exuding
boundless energy? Why is our potential energy far greater than our actual
energy? Perhaps William James said it best when he said, “Compared to what we
ought to be most of us are only half awake. We are only making use of only a
small part of our possible mental and physical resources.” Indeed we have so
much potential energy, yet, so many of us are not tapping into the energy
available to us. If you imagine yourself standing at the gas pump of life you’ll

As a young man Ron Holland was a budding

and ran into financial difficulties. He tried all the banks and the usual
Venture Capital routes in Run Around City, all to no avail. Ron then visualised
his practically empty motorcycle shops brimming with motorcycles. In actual
fact, in his imagination he saw so many bikes he couldn’t close the showroom
doors. Bikes were flooding in. He carried out his visualisation for three days.
On the third day it hit him Eureka!

Goal-Full or Soulful Success, Your Choice
Author: Deborah Martin
In our striving to succeed, we set goals. Common
goals like earn more money, build a bigger business, lose some weight, remodel
or build that home, buy that boat or car, get more time off. I call these goals
“common” because we boil our definition of success down to the same goals
everyone else has. We see someone we consider successful and then, rather than
looking at how they are experiencing their life, we try to replicate the things
they have by setting our own goals. For instance, we say, “If I had a home like
that, I too would be successful.” But look at anyone you consider successful. No
matter how much or little they possess, if they are happy, joyful, and playful,
then I'm betting they have established a goal-free zone around their success.

GET YOUR NOSE OFF THE GRINDSTONE
Author: Dr. Noelle C. Nelson
Your alarm goes off - too early, much too early.
As you struggle your way out of your warm comfy nest, you say to yourself:
“Another day, another grind,” and off you go, to the land of work. It doesn’t
matter what kind of work, whether in an office, a factory, a home or on a space
ship, you’d love (no, let’s rephrase that), you’d be utterly passionate about
being able not to work. Get off that work treadmill. Forever. But life, it
seems, just isn’t going to let you get away with that one. You’re years away
from retirement (if that ever becomes a reality…) and somehow you don’t think
the bill collectors are going to make nice and forget to collect the rent.

Forgiveness is the Ultimate Weight Loss
Author: Jon Gordon, The Energy Addict
While some people share their favorite sayings
with car bumper stickers there is a horse farmer in North East Florida who
shares his own profound quotes by posting signs for thousands of drivers to see
on the way to and from work. This past week he posted a sign that said,
"Forgiveness is the Ultimate Weight Loss". It made me think about a woman at one
of my seminars who said she lost 180 lbs immediately after she ended a bad
relationship. Wow, I thought, that's some serious weight loss. "Well," she said,
"that's how much he weighed." Sure there are many diets out there trying to help
us lose weight but what many of us need to go on is a NEGATIVE ENERGY DIET. If
you've ever ended a negative relationship or quit a job you absolutely hated or
forgiven someone... you know what it means to remove negative energy, the kind
that weighs you down like a ton of bricks, from your life. After you rid this
person, job or resentment from your life you literally felt lighter and freer.
You lost weight, felt happier and mad

Fighting Terror with Forgiveness
Author: D. Patrick Miller
Let’s face it: most people probably think of
forgiveness as the last resort of losers. It’s what you’re left with after
you’ve been victimized and can’t figure out a way to inflict revenge. If there’s
no way to even the score, then you might as well settle for feeling a little
better about yourself by becoming noble. And if you forgive what happened to
you, maybe someday you can forget all about it. Or, maybe whoever hurt you will
eventually feel guilty about what they did, and come begging for your
forgiveness. Then you get to decide whether they deserve it. (Probably not!)

Fight Terror, Improve Education
Author: Christopher R. Branam
A War on Terrorism? Conventional war being brought
on an unconventional enemy is ineffective out of date. Building these countries
up to a certain level of stability, and allowing them to take over and govern
themselves is part of the Presidents plan. If we think the need help getting to
build a stable and profitable country in the world market, than let’s say what
we mean and just do it. Weapons of mass destruction if we had enough evidence to
invade Iraq we should have hit those sights first and had those weapons in the
first days. Oh, they must have hidden them, well how did we know about them in
the first place. It has been more than two years since the bold and terrible
attack on the World Trade Towers, and we are chasing shadows here and there.

We have believed a dangerous lie. We have accepted
that the head is more reliable and more sensible than the heart. We have
believed that should we follow our hearts, our lives will be ruined because the
heart only gets us into trouble. We have been well taught that when head and
heart are in tension, we must go with the cool reason of the head and ignore the
hot passions of the heart. Yes, if we use our heads and ignore our hearts, we
will stay out of trouble.

Emotional Intelligence Coaching: Not Just

Author: Susan Dunn, MA The EQ Coach
It’s common knowledge that athletes must have
trainers and coaches. It’s a long tradition, not even questioned. The results of
the coaching are also obvious … athletes engage in physical actions, and one can
easily see the results. They are using what’s called “gross motor skills” -
hitting balls, pole vaulting, knocking opponents out, or running touchdowns.
Athletes are by definition in win-lose situations, where the outcome is
verifiable.

Unjustly, for no good reason (other than the boss wanted a job for his new love

Don't Die With your Dreams Still Inside
You
Author: Fran Briggs
I write and talk a lot about dreams. Primarily
because I know they serve an awesome and amazing purpose. We all have a desire -
a dream - to do something great, go somewhere incredible, achieve the
unachievable, beat the unbeatable or meet the "unmeetable." Unfortunately, more
often than not, most dreams remain unrealized; silenced by fear and doubt.
What's needed is a renaissance to recapture the spirit and belief we once had as
children. We need to remind ourselves in all that we desire to do, be and
have... "I can, if I think I can."

characteristic is a positive attitude. Knowledge can be learned but a positive
attitude cannot be taught and is recognized as being critical for success. Yet,
if attitude is so important, why do we do so much to destroy it? (I use we,

yourself to shift into higher alignment by remembering the power of
appreciation.

Community after Tragedy
Author: Dan Britt
One Friday in November, I began a journey from New
Jersey to downtown New York City to visit old work friends. It was my first
visit since the tragic September 11th attack. Although I've traveled this same
route--the commuter train to the Hoboken station from 1996-2000--there were now,
of course, changes in the environment when I got to Hoboken.

Common Myths About Self-Defense and
Martial Arts
Author: Raymond Desmarais
Whenever I mention that I teach self-defense
courses, I get a reaction reflecting the listener’s personal beliefs. These run
the gamut from enthusiasm, to apprehension, and rarely, derision. The point is,
most people have some preconceived ideas about what self-defense training is,
and whether there is any value to it. Another common factor that comes up, is
that many people have a latent interest in learning some sort of self-defense,
but haven’t pursued it for a variety of reasons. In this article, I’d like to
address some of the myths and misconceptions surrounding self-defense training.
Hopefully this will encourage more people to look into a martial art or
self-defense training, as there are all sorts of good reasons to do so.

Choose to Be a Positive Force
Author: Sam Quick, Ph.D., and Alex Lesueur, Jr., M.S.L.S., University of

Your life is maintained by energy that constantly
pours into you and through you. Where does this energy come from? Some would say
that it comes from the cosmic energy that pervades the universe and is an
essential element of all matter. Those who are spiritually inclined might say
that the gift of life and the energy that sustains it ultimately come from God.

Choose Freedom Within
Author: Chris Cormier
Recently I was filling my car at a gas station
after work. The city was experiencing an unusually high rate of thefts of fuel.
Gas and runs. In order to combat this problem some stations with rear pumps
required the driver to prepay with credit or debit card on that pump. This was
due to the lack of visibility of the license plate. I finished filling up and
went inside to pay (I was on a front pump).

Challenge Life
Author: Jon Gordon, The Energy Addict
As I talked with my 85 year old Grandpa Eddy the
other night he told me that he still likes mowing his lawn. "I mow the front
first. Then I take a break and mow the back. I look at it as a challenge not a
chore," he said. Then he added "When mowing my lawn becomes a chore and I have
trouble doing it, then I'll ask for help". "Challenge" not a "chore" stuck in
mind. How many of us go through life as if it's a chore. We drag ourselves out
of bed, into our cars and to our jobs. We struggle through life either resisting
the power and potential of the present moment or passively accepting our current
situation-like a child being told by his father to weed the lawn.

When is it time to change? When you become aware
of dissatisfaction in your life. What causes people to examine how they got
caught up in their present situation? Often a word from a friend-not always a
kind word either-a book you read, a speaker you heard. It begins when it occurs
to you there may be hope for a better life. It begins when you believe there is

Be Abundant…Set a New Mental Equivalent
Author: Charlene M. Proctor, Ph.D.
Limiting beliefs, just like positive, empowering
thoughts, provide a foundation for our experiences and what we demonstrate. Old
beliefs can leave us behind - and are often stale, lingering ideas left-over
from our childhood experiences or from other areas of life that no longer carry
any useful meaning. Abandoning negative assumptions about lack opens room to
develop an abundant mindset. We can do that by setting a new mental equivalent
that resets the dial on our trust channel - the channel we listen to that tells
us to trust that we already have everything. A belief system must change in
order to create a new reality.

Are You Ready For Change?
Author: Linda-Ann Stewart
As a hypnotherapist, I have people come to me who
want to improve their lives. Many of them succeed with their goals. But some of
them aren't ready for the change they think that they want. For instance, I had
a client who wanted to stop smoking. He quit with very little problem, but a
couple of weeks later he started smoking again. When I asked him, "After what
you went through to quit, why did you start again?" He replied that he just
thought he'd like to have one. And he continued to smoke.

Appreciation Works!
Author: Dr. Noelle Nelson
Things just have not been going well at work
lately. A new co-worker is kissing up to the boss and the boss is eating it up.
You can see your shot at a promotion going swiftly down the drain. Your "task
list" (who comes up with these PC cover-ups for more work, anyway?) is ever
increasing, and your unpaid overtime along with it. And then you come home.
Well, you sort of come home. Your car bumps along in need of repair, or the
train is so crowded you can barely breathe. When you finally turn the key in the
lock of your home sweet home, you're greeted by a pile of bills, chores you
don't want to do and a cranky spouse who is just as overworked as you.

Accessing Your Higher Mind
Author: John Holland
The more we stay connected to our higher mind -
which we also call the Universe, the source, or spirit - the more we strengthen
and build that crucial bridge between ourselves and our higher consciousness.
While we’re all born connected to this divine awareness, we have a tendency to
pull away from what was once natural. It’s reasonable to assume that when we
become disconnected from our higher mind, the source that once nourished us will
be replaced with another source or substitute. In other words, the connection
could be with food, alcohol, nicotine, co-dependency to someone, or even work -
hence the term workaholic. Many of us spend our lives trying to fill that void
which was created when the link was broken.
