The Three Rules For Success In Business
Author: Galen A. Smith Sr.
Through the years, when I travel throughout Southcentral Kentucky during the course of a work day, I have learned to look for special sayings and signs posted on bulletin boards. Every now and then, I'll spot something that immediately jumps out and grabs my attention.
Recently, I just so happen to be working at one of my accounts in Muhlenberg County, Ky., when I looked up and found this sign posted on the wall in a restaurant. "The Three Rules For Success in Business....Rule #1 Take care of the customer. Rule #2 Take care of the customer. Rule #3 Take care of the customer."
"Wow!" I thought, "What a powerful sign." Although, this sign may be taken to be humorous in a way, it's really makes a serious and powerful statement for sucess in the business world. Not only does this sign make the customer feel special, it reinforces the employees and the owner of the business to remember that the customer is the most important person in the business. If wasn't for the customer, there would be no business.
I think sometimes we forget that the customer is the most important person when it comes to making business transactions. Sometimes the customer is made to feel that he or she is not important. They may be made to feel that they are not appreciated and they are a nuisance. Perhaps, it is the employees who have a bad attitude and it is reflected in their work. They do not smile and they are not helpful in any situation.
It always reflects in their body language too or the way that they sound in their speech. Regardless if you're dealing with a difficult customer, remember the three rules for success in business. It pays!
