Strengthen your centre to avoid/handle depressions.
Author: veepandi

In ‘How to read depressions positively?’ strengthening the centre had an important role.

How to strengthen the centre? The energy required strengthening the centre had to be diverted from the swings both negative and positive. Individual needs and interests are the primary sources of energy distribution. To divert energy from the swings to centre, one need to focus on active needs and interests.

For a person who is king to himself/herself it will be easy to identify the active induced needs and interests and weaken their magnitude to divert energy to the centre.

Our needs and interests to satisfy others, to cause envy etc will be mostly induced type. If we realize the importance of living for ourselves and subordinating induced needs and interests to it, we could identify the active induced needs and interests responsible for the excess negative swing and reduce their magnitude. This in turn will divert the released energy to strengthening the centre. This is a kind of remedial action.

We have the luxury of preventive action in positive swings. When positive swings becomes excess, it indicates a weak centre and domination of induced needs and interests. If the individual is aware he could sensitize the excess positive swing as a warning to take preventive action. He/she will start the process of regaining the king status over their life. This will mean a process of weakening induced needs and interests.

A strong centered person is less prone to depressions and could recover fast if it happens due to unavoidable reasons.

Induced needs and interests are not bad by themselves. Within limits they may serve a socially positive role. When individuals get submerged in social groups, induced needs and interests acquire the potential of domination over individuals increasing the scope for depressions.

The art of living need awareness of relative importance of natural and induced needs and interests and their relation to depression.
