IS STRESS DYING TO MEET YOU
Author: Trevor Barre - Life Coach
Did you know that stress can kill you? Let me rephrase that – stress WILL kill you!!
How do I know that? Because I have seen too many good people die young. Most of these folk were active, enthusiastic, take-from-life-everything-they-could-get type of people who had a passion for life and lived every moment like it might be their last.
But they had a flaw.
They allowed an insidious disease called stress to slowly but surely affect their body in such a way that they never saw it coming until it was too late. No, let me correct that. They saw it alright but they chose to ignore it. For to recognize the symptoms meant they had to admit to the problem. And as any alcoholic will tell you – the hardest part is to acknowledge there is a problem.
The affects of stress may not kill you now. They may not shorten your life for many years to come. But know this. If you do not make radical changes to your lifestyle, it will get you in the end. It will rob you of your future. It will take rob your family of a parent, child, or friend. And when all is said and done, your work or business will probably soon get over the hiccup in your passing, and then carry on as if you were never there!
So, the question to you my friend is this: Is stress dying to meet you? Take the following test and see for yourself:
· Do you often find yourself holding your breath and tensing over situations at work or home?
· Do you chew your fingernails, or other items?
· Do you miss meals, rush them, or ‘eat on the go?’
· Do you get 6 to 8 hours sleep EVERY NIGHT?
· Are you on prescription (or illegal) drugs to control high blood pressure, stomach ailments, insomnia, headaches, or restlessness?
· Is your work- and home-life balanced?
· Do you know when to say no, and can you?
· Do you exercise 30 minutes a day, three days a weeks?
· Do you find yourself running on caffeine or sugar products?
· Do you have someone you can share your problems with?
· Can you remember the last time you took a day off and just did nothing?
If you will be honest with yourself, the answers to the above questions should either be a comforting confirmation for you, or will hopefully scare you into realizing that you need to make some serious changes in your life before it is too late.
Please, make something of, and enjoy your life. Don’t let stress take it from you.
Until next time,
Live on the Edge.
Trevor Barre
