I RESIDE AT THE RESIDENCE OF PEACE
Author: Dr. Adrienne A. Sabir-Hudson
I am often told you really have it good. It doesn't seem like you have to go through anything. Well if anyone knows me they know that has not been my truth. I am like most everyone. I still have my challenges. However, I believe that life has taught me some things that stand out for me. Among those things is that I have choice. I can choose where I reside. Yes, I can choose if I want to be unforgiving, angry, bitter, hopeless, or depressed. I can choose if I want to cooperate, be compassionate, loving or happy.
I choose the residence of peace. I choose this residence because it works for me. I choose the residence of peace because everything else that I desire seems to come to that residence. When I am at peace, I am feeling the love, cooperation and all things that keep me in alignment with the natural order of things. It doesn't mean that I don't leave my residence sometimes because I do. But one thing I am sure of is that when I return I know that I am home.
You see when there are challenges now in my life and I stay centered in peace I am able to see my way clearly through those challenges. I can actually figure out what steps need to be taken. I can clearly advise. I point people to their center. I have found that everyone has one. It is a place of home. It is a place that you have wherever your body or mind may take you. It is an assurance. I know that the sun is up even in the rain and behind the clouds peace resides there. I know that even when th earth erupts, further down she is still because peace resides there. I know that beyond the fire is fresh air because peace resides there. I know that behind my tears is always joy because peace resides there. In the stillness of the night, daylight will always come because peace resides there.
I am reminded of a Biblical scripture. "Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death." I walk through that valley. I don't take up residence there. And after all it is a shadow.
You see my residence works for me. I am free to make choices in my life. It is an inheritance that we all have. I choose the residence of peace. What do you choose? Just something to think about!
