Indirect Looking
Author: Chris Karl

What is indirect looking and what is its significance to you? In order to answer this question, it is important to first talk about direct looking.

What is direct looking? Direct looking happens when you look at an object with your full attention, thereby eliminating everything else from your mind but this object.

During this direct looking there is an exchange of energy between you and the object you are looking at. Energy will flow either from you to the object or from the object to you.

If you are an unsatisfied person looking for fulfillment in your life, then there are many objects out there designed to make you feel fulfilled. By looking at those objects, their energy flows into you.

Some of the energy that flows into you is designed to make you buy a certain product, for example: a car. Through your direct looking at the object a seed is planted in you for this or another car.

Through this direct looking you have opened up yourself to the influence of outside forces that may or may not have your best interest in mind.

As long as you are looking for something in order to feel fulfilled, you will always be open to the influences of these objects out there.

There is another way of dealing with these outside influences: look at them in an indirect way. Glance at them without looking at them fully. By glancing at them you are in control of how much of the influence you are willing to open yourself up to.

Yes, the car looks good, but so does a thought you just had about doing something creative for yourself. All that occurs in your mind are thoughts. The thought of the car is as valid as the thought of your creative project. What object are you following?

Which thought are you giving power to? Are you giving over your power to outside influences or are you strengthening your own power by nurturing it within yourself?

My suggestion is to glance at the outside world as long as you feel incomplete, vulnerable and needy. Develop your own inner strength and then you will find that energy will flow from you towards the outside world. You will then no longer depend on energy from outside of you to feel fulfilled.
