Divine Discontent (The Urge to Create)
Author: John & Jo Ann "Ananda" McIntosh
Hidden deep within our spirit is an urge, while encouraging in nature it produces a fiery and constantly distractive undercurrent that cannot be quenched in part but must be extinguished entirely before we realize "the peace that passeth understanding".
It was placed there by the comforting influence of the "adjuster of perception" when we first decided to play in the fields of separation. It is our crumb-trail home to Oneness. Without it we would be lost in the illusions of limitation and alienated from our Source for eternity.
This constant craving from within inspires us to imagine a world beyond our senses. For many this means absorption in the distractions of vicarious living. Although this practice leaves the compulsive heart wanting it does move in the direction of eventual enlightenment, albeit at a pace that our three dimensional senses may deem snail-like.
Nevertheless, it is not for us to judge the homeward path another takes, our journey requires our constant vigilance and our joy depends on it. When we apply the full force of our inner vision to the task of satisfying this inner longing we begin to sense a steady trickle of concepts and ideas that stimulate the imagination and coax us in the direction of creative enterprises.
These exhilarating activities at first seem very grounded in the material world and we may spend long years in search of freedom from the bonds that the ‘plane of pain' impose upon us. When viewed from the perspective of ‘witness' these activities could easily be seen as a waste of the divine purpose behind the inner discontent.
However, there is eventually a turning point when an AHA takes place and we realize a deeper significance to the stimulation that has beseeched us to manifest the people, places and circumstances in our life. It is the first brush of the lips that will soon kiss us into awakening from the terrible dream we called reality. When this occurs we have awakened ‘within' the dream and from that moment on we cannot rest until the dream dissolves and we regain our conscious awareness of the Truth of All we are: One with God.
The trickle of creative juices becomes a flood and we are propelled forward at dizzying speeds as we devour every morsel of light that may encourage our awakening. Many blind alleys and dead ends greet our hungry search but we cannot long be discouraged as the compelling force of the Father's greeting now invigorates our conscious search for True freedom.
A study of the creative history of mankind will quickly reveal the spiritual essence lying at the base of all great discovery. Every struggling soul who has ever, even for a moment, turned aside the veil of illusion in their inward journey home, has revealed an infinity of ‘props and tools' waiting to be out-manifested within the dream and designed to speed the return home of all who seek the end of sleep.
Let us embrace this inner discontent as a benevolent force that gently but persistently wants only to draw us up to a ‘high mountain' where, once again we will clearly see no bonds of limitation hold us and we are as we have always been: One with and free within the Loving arms of our Father/Mother God.
